Volunteer Spotlight: Peter Juhren
Peter Juhren has served on numerous NCCCO, ASME, and ANSI tower crane committees during his 30 years of experience working with and around tower cranes. He currently serves as Vice President of Operations at Morrow Equipment, where he is responsible for corporate operations globally, including service, spare parts, purchasing, training, and engineering. Previously, as Corporate Service Manager at Morrow Equipment, he was involved with planning and strategizing programs geared towards improving safety in servicing, installing, and operating tower cranes. He became involved with NCCCO in 2003, he says, because, as the largest supplier of tower cranes in the U.S., Morrow wanted to contribute to the tower crane operator certification program from its inception. He believes that NCCCO has brought credibility to the certification of operators. “NCCCO represents the utmost integrity in test development,” says Juhren, who counts chairmanship of ANSI’s ASME B30.3 Tower Crane subcommittee, and membership of Federal OSHA’s prestigious CDAC committee that rewrote 29CFR1926.550 subpart N for cranes, among his industry achievements. “All of CCO’s processes, programs, and testing are developed by the most qualified people in the industry, who volunteer their time and expertise (at their own expense) to ensure that the programs developed and used to certify people are the best available.” Spending time with his family, playing golf, and restoring old cars are among the activities that Peter enjoys when he’s not working.
Peter Juhren was first elected to a five-year term as NCCCO Commissioner in October 2009. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 2011.
